Hi salfordbob There's a little bit on the Genuki website, mostly saying that its exact location and eventual fate is unknown, I'm afraid - www.genuki.org.ukYou might find a few clues if you contact the Methodist Archives and Research Centre, John Rylands University Library of Manchester, 150 Deansgate, Manchester M3 3EH - telephone 0161 834 5343/6765. Hi Salfordbob There is a christening for Joseph Stopford 26/7/1829 with parents William & Hannah at St Michael's Church Ashton under Lyne. There are other siblings. Is this your Joseph? I'm looking for methodist records too and e-mailed the liaison officer last week. As yet I have no reply so will take up woody's suggestion and ring John Rylands.

The following site is useful (not in this case) for non-conformist records.
www.bmdregisters.co.uk/
It also may be worth contacting Alan Rose who is associated with archiving methodist records. His details can be found on www.
