While looking at old photographs on Hollinwood Canel I spotted a photograph with the lock keeper named Tommy Stanfield. After asking a few questions he appears to be my father in laws uncle. I have tried to find ways to link him to the family but hit a brick wall. Any help would be appreciated.

I have been searching but info is hard to gain from my husbands family some remember their uncle Tommy also a uncle Harry. So far uncle Harry married into money and moved to America he used to visit and always brought his American car over with him. Thomas the only proof I have of him living is the photo above. None of the family seem to remember any great grandparents so hit a brick wall. Found a James and Harry living with a grandmother Sarah AM Morris in their teens but no Thomas. The address was 2 Baguley Street Droylsden. I am going to order two birthcertificates for a Harry Stanfield 511 also Thomas 478 to see if they are related.

Cheshire BMD has births for James, Harry, Sarah Ann and Thomas all with mother's maiden name Morris. There is a marriage for Frank Stanfield and Sarah Morris at St Peter's in Sept quarter 1887. In 1911 Frank ,Sarah and children Sarah and Thomas are living at 2 Kings St Droylsden. Also with them is John William Stanfield as a boarder. He was born 1888. Hope this helps and may save you some money! Regards Lindy
