Hi, I remember the house next to the infants school gate used to sell godley rock. I am sure it was made in the house by the lady who sold it. My husband thinks it was another house in the row. It could have been Nihtingales who made it in the market hall. Maybe someone else can tell us that.

Found out some more this week, it was made in the parlour of old ma Goodwins. about four doors down from St. Johns Church. she made it on the huge table she had, rolling it out, then cutting it. The kids used to go ask her for the ends lol. Nightingales started making it after that, then they went into the market hall. The Goodwins never revealed the recipe, and its still not known to this day.

Hi, Just found this thread. I lived in the house that used to be the godly rock shop/factory. It was no.47 high street, same side as the shop that is there now one house up from the ginnel!! We lived there from 1993 to 2003. We found out about it from elderly residents that still lived there when we did. You can still buy godley rock but it it's not the same, I am lead to believe that it was similar to colts foot rock but was a minty flavour

Hi, I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me... My dad always talks about Godley Rock and I've been trying for years to get hold of some for him! Sounds from the above like it's not the same anymore, but if there's some version of it still in existence I'd love to get him some! Does anyone know where I can buy it?
Thanks so much for your help!

Hi, does anyone know whether the stalls in Ashton and Hyde are still selling Godley Rock? My sister and I used to live on Sheffield Road, Godley and we used to go to the house on High Street and buy some Godley Rock in a white paper bag. We loved it.
