Hello, Does anyone have info about Thomas Hayes (b. around 1795) possibly married to Mary (no MN, b. around 1801), father of James HAYES (b. 1825) who married Mary Ann CONNOLLY (b. 1831) in 1849?
Mary Ann CONNOLLY's father is John CONNOLLY. I believe his wife's name was Ann, but am not positive.
Any clues on Thomas and Mary Hayes or John and Ann Connolly would be very much appreciated!

Hi tpetrie
In the USA, the James Hayes line I found that has a connection to Ashton under Lyne appears in the 1880 Federal census for Pond Creek, Greene, Missouri. James Hayes (age 56, born England, not employed) is listed as the head of household’s father.
Head of household is James S Hayes (age 28, born England, farmer), wife Rebecca and children all born Missouri. There is also Charles H Hayes (age 18, born England, farm Labourer) described as the head of household’s unmarried brother.
In the UK, there’s a birth for James Smith Hayes registered at Ashton under Lyne in 1852. There’s also a birth registration for Charles Henry HEYES at Ashton in 1862 which is probably a spelling error and which could complete the picture. More specifically, both these births are registered at Audenshaw which would tie in with the Droylsden address.
These two children can be found in the 1871 UK census living at Back Clayton Street, Droylsden with their mother and other siblings, but there is no James Hayes (father) at the house that night. We have:
Mary Ann Hayes, married, age 40, born Dukinfield, Cheshire (now Tameside) James Hayes, single, age 19, born Droylsden, Lancashire (now Tameside) John Hayes, single, age 15, born Openshaw, Manchester, Lancashire (still Manchester) William Hayes, single, age 14, born Droylsden, Lancashire (now Tameside) Elizabeth A Hayes, single, age 12, born Droylsden, Lancashire (now Tameside) Charles H Hayes, single, age 9, born Clayton, Manchester (still Manchester) Mary Hayes, single age 6, born Clayton, Manchester (still Manchester) Joseph Hayes, single age 4, born Clayton, Manchester (registered Audenshaw: Tameside) George Hayes, single age 2, born Clayton, Manchester (still Manchester)
In the 1861 census, the family is living at Clayton (part of Droylsden at the time) and James, age 35, gives his place of birth as Droylsden. There is another son who doesn't appear with his parents again, Thomas age 11, born Droylsden and the second name is mis-spelled 'HAYS'.
There's also a domestic servant, Sarah Standing, a widow age 40 also born Droylsden, who might later prove to be connected to the family - James' married sister for example
None of this stuff might be right for your ancestors but based on what you know and before I go any further, does it sound right ?
