I've found this forum really helpful, and wish that more of my ancestors came from my local area! However, I am now trying to research ancestors from Nantwich, Cheshire. I can't seem to find a local forum for that area (like our Tameside forum). Can anyone help with advice about researching in South Cheshire? When I go to the Cheshire Records Office, I will need to do all my research in one day - so need to be well prepared. Thanks Ann

Hello Ann, The Family History Society of Cheshire has branches at Nantwich and at Crewe and the Crewe Group has recently opened a Family History Unit in Crewe Library. I am helping them to put details of their resources on-line at the moment and these pages should launch fairly soon. It is a well stocked unit with helpful volunteers. Have a look at the Family History Society of Cheshire's webpage: www.fhsc.org.ukYou might also find the Nantwich Group helpful. The Society has 18 groups all holding a regular set of meetings etc. I run the Tameside Group at Dukinfield and we have monthly meetings and a twice monthly help desk at Tameside Local Studies Library in Ashton. I run this Tameside Website and forum as my own personal volunteer project - it is something I started before I even joined the Family History Society, so I am happy that you have found it helpful. I'd like to thank one person in particular who has helped so many people via this Forum - he knows who he is:)
