Hello,
I know the Whit Walk is/was pretty special, and I remember my grandmother sent us a newspaper photograph of herself taking part. The cutting has long gone now. but I wonder whether the firstly, if the Manchester Guardian, or anyother local paper covering Ashton under Lyne in the mid 1950's would publish a selection or spread of photos like we get now, or only one. and secondly has a photo archive that I could search online.
I don't know if I'd recognise her or the photo again, but would really like to give it a try.
any ideas please?

Hello Flipflops
If you go to the Tameside Council website , look at the photographic archive and put whitwalks into the search box you should find quite a few photos from all eras.
