In researching my grandfather, Albert Thompson, b. 1880, in Pendleton, I have just discovered he served an apprenticeship at Benjamin Goodfellow's of Hyde, between 1900 and 1904.
I understand that this was a company of engineers and iron-founders, and unfortunately, Tameside Local Studies and Archives Centre do not have any information within their library archives.
I am wondering if anybody else has any information regarding the company, especially for the turn of the century.
Many thanks in advance.

I was talking to someone last night who has a special interest in engineering in Hyde, who has also offered to do a talk for our Dukinfield Family History Group next year sometime.
I also asked if I could pass on his email address to you, which I will be doing privately. He has agreed to try and help with your enquiry.
best wishes, Gay
