As anyone any details about the Ashton Tech College when it was in Old Street, in the same location as the library? I was a pupil there from about 1953 to 1957, and recall the names of some of the teaching staff as, Mr Horrocks (Principal and History) and Mr Williams (Geography and English). Does anyone know of a search site that may have detail of the College, as I have only once come across another former pupil, other than myself, and that was in Australia?

Hi Tony
I couldn't find much online about Ashton Tech (also referenced as Heginbotham Technical School), although there are a couple of photos on the Tameside Images Archive website, one of which is taken inside a classroom so you might get lucky.
I should think, if it's individuals you're searching for, it would be worthwhile at least considering the Friends Reunited website. It's free to join and there are existing members listed who were at the Tech in the 1950s and 1960s. You can then attempt to contact them through the Friends Reunited messaging system.

Hi Woody
Thanks for the mail and you have given me something to go on. In ref to the Crescent Inn, I uploaded (at long last) the photo I referred to, after no success in photobucket, so now it has gone to Gay as an email attachment.
Regards Tony
