Hi All, I've recently returned to the area and wondered if anyone had any info on any of these family names? There are connections I have found between Norton/Lever/Hassall families local to Stalybridge & Ashton. The Wroe/Shaw/Ollerenshaw connections seem to originate in Mottram/Tintwistle & Hyde. I have so far managed to trace back to my own paternal gr gr grandparents using UKBMD but am now stuck and hitting brick walls. Any help much appreciated. Many thanks
Jason

Hi
How far back are you trying to trace Ollerenshaw from? My Grandfather was Harry Ollerenshaw from Hyde born in 1901 I think? he lived in Hyde/woodley all his life.
How does Ollerenshaw fit into your family tree?
Thanks Zoe

Hi, I have a norton and hassall in my husband's family tree. It's quite a while since I've had a look at either but I did get quite a way back. Can you let me know a couple of names and dobs for each family an I can check if they're also linked into ours. If they ar I prob have a fair amount of info.
Thanks, jill

Hi Jill, sorry that I've only just checked in and seen this. I have lots of Hassalls (my paternal Gmothers maiden name) & Nortons. Too numerous to list all but John Hassall b1804 d1883 lived in Stalybridge all his life. He married Clarina/Clara Norton b1804 d1879 again from Nortons of Stalybridge. Together they had 12 children including my direct ancestors John Norton Hassall b1840s d1919 & his son Ralph Hassall b1880 d1946.
Many thanks for your interest. Hope there is some connection. Kind regards Jason
