About 100 years ago an old hat factory in Godley was converted to a margarine plant . In 1920 or there abouts it was closed and the operation moved to Bromborough. Does anyone have information, data, memories etc to share on this. My interests that I belive that my grandfather worked there from about 1900 through until the move to Bromborough.
thanks, edwin

Edwin
If you Google 'Margarine Factory Bromborough', you'll find a much more comprehensive reference. It's an extract from the book 'Twentieth Century Industrial Archaeology' and it gives 1914 as the date of the Hyde factory closure.

Many thanks Woody. I have a copy of the full monograph of Mondstat's "Progress etc." I got it from Tameside Archives. Thanks for the ref. to the Google source.
Any other information you come across would be very welcome.
Regards Edwin
