My wife's grandfather joined the Manchester Regiment in 1913, he fought in the trenches and in 1917 joined the RFC and made 2nd Lieutenant as a rear gunner navigator. A couple of years ago I offered Tameside Archives information regarding my wife's grandfather. I explained I did not hold the original photo's etc but had digital copies they could have. This offer was refused on the grounds. They wanted the originals because they did not have facilities for digital, and "digital only lasts twenty years". Now they are accepting digital copies I e-mailed to make the offer again, this time they didn't even bother to reply! Attachments:
