Hi Heather There's no notification system to tell you when you've had a response so, it's just a matter of logging on to the forum regularly and looking. www.Scotlandspeople.gov.uk is the website you need for all family records and census documents about Scottish ancestors, but do bear in mind that although very basic searches are free, for any detail it's a pay-site. Half my own family's Scottish and I had a couple of credits spare so had a quick look there for Ellen Clelland Cullen. I found her, born in 1924 and registered at Coatbridge/ Old Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland. All certificates have an individual General Register Office for Scotland (GROS) registration number and Ellen's is 652/02 0672. Sadly, the document isn’t available via the internet so you'll need to quote that reference if you decide to order and pay for it direct from: Registrar’s Office The Buchanan Centre Ground Floor 126 Main Street Coatbridge North Lanarkshire Scotland The birth certificate will give you Ellen's parents' names, and in Scotland the mother's maiden name is always given on birth, marriage and death certificates. That information would then allow you decide whether these are you great grandparents. On 30 December 1922, there’s a record of a marriage between a Joseph Cullen and Margaret Quin at St Anne’s RC Church, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. There’s no guarantee that these are your ancestors but their marriage is in Glasgow, and at the right time preceding Ellen’s birth. Joseph Cullen was a 29 year-old lace weaver's card cutter who lived at 165 Dalmarnock Road, Glasgow. His father was James Cullen, a gasworks labourer and his mother was Ellen, formerly Hughes. 24-year old Margaret Quin lived at 24 Rockbank Street, Glasgow but no occupation is given for her. Parents were Patrick Quin, a wood sawyer and Hannah, formerly Cooney, who was deceased at the time of the marriage. Witnesses were William McMillan of 3 Marquis Street, Glasgow and Hannah Quin of the same address as the bride, more than likely a sister. There's no indication about places of birth, but the names Quin and Cooney are more Irish than Scottish Hope this helps Woody
