Hi Suzanne
I’ve now made a thorough search through all the indexes, lists, notice-boards and BMD-related websites that I can think of but, like everyone else who’s been helping you search for the past couple of years, I’ve come up with precisely nothing that’s new for John ‘Enoch’ Shepley.
The only archive that’s left to me is the microfiche collection of parish and other records available for manual searches in the local studies library. Since these are understood to have all been vetted by the LDS and should therefore be available of the website, I won’t be holding my breath about the chances of success there, but I’ll have a look anyway when I get the chance.
John’s wife Anne (Timperley) almost certainly died age 33 at Dukinfield in 1841 [www.cheshirebmd.org.uk]. She is therefore absent from the 1841 census in which John (35) is living with his six children at 45 Parliament Street, Dukinfield; everyone in the household is marked as being born in Cheshire. The children are Enoch (12), Sarah (10), Hannah (8), Abel (6), William (4), and Thomas (2).
The LDS website has baptisms for most of these children [www.familysearch.org] and since the mother’s maiden name is given on some, we know Anne Timperley to be John Shepley's wife. Evidently, the family is Methodist since two of the baptisms took place in the New Connexion Church in Stamford Street, Ashton-under-Lyne. Thomas is the last-born child and the
www.cheshirebmd.org.uk site, up-dated fairly recently, confirms his mother’s maiden name as ‘Timperley’. It's therefore fairly safe to assume these to be your ancestors.
There’s a useful project article about the Stamford Street New Connexions which has photos taken before the ‘for explosion’ signs and scaffolding appeared after its closure in 2006. Gay contributed to the article so she may know more?

John and all his children migrated in 1848 aboard the barque ‘Baboo’ which sailed from London via Plymouth and docked at Port Adelaide, South Australia on 5th December 1848. The ship’s manifest identifies ..... ‘John Shepley and two children (these would be William & Thomas), Hannah Shepley, Enoch Shepley, Sarah Shepley, Abel Shepley’......
In South Australia, there are several records referring to the enterprise and progress of the male ancestors, including obituaries for Enoch and Abel. There’s also a ship’s manifest for Enoch Shepley’s visit to England in 1898.
It’s just possible that Anne Timperley’s history could be a little easier to trace. Some previous researchers have her as born at Middleton, Lancashire and baptised at Middleton St Leonard Parish Church
Baptisms: 18 Oct 1807 St Leonard, Middleton, Lancashire, England
Ann Timperley - Daughter of Isaac Timperley & Hannah
Abode: Middleton
(father’s) Occupation: Book-keeper
If that’s the case, there are probable baptismal records for several siblings, the detail of which is to be found at

On that website there are also two possible marriages for Isaac Timperley and Hannah, along with two possible deaths for Hannah who does not appear on this 1841 census record.

I couldn’t find either of these two people in 1851 and there are possible death records for each of them.
Where does the 'Enoch' as John Shepley's middle name come from ? I haven't found any formal sources
in which it appears.
I'm assuming you already have all this information but if not, I kept copies of the census, newspaper articles, Manifests etc.
Cheers
