Sadly I have had to go through my Godmothers' things following her death. She had no family that I know of, probably cousins somewhere but contact lost through age and death. Most of what remained were her photos and again sadly the most interesting and old ones not named. However Aunty Marjorie was a very organised lady and the years of her holidays and outings are on the covers of the photograph holders and some have names of the shops on them. Some one out there may be interested in who they were so here goes. A.H.Shaw Dispensing chemist ( late of Heppwells Strand London) 102 Oldham Road Waterloo A u L TEL Ashton 1078 Photos dated 1922 Sept Interestingly there is an advert for "Slogas Gaslight Paper" for printing your own photos - "for daylight printing in the summer months when the days are long and the light is good" wow that would have made quite a hobby The Wedding Album 104 Stockport Road AUL Tel Ash 3141 & Rus 1846 Photos dated 1963 H A Allison 287d Stamford Street AUL no dates Well most of the pictures and there are many will have to thrown away but I have kept the ones with names and some are conected to Ryecroft Methodist Church. I hope to get these and some others to the Archive in Ashton. Regards to all Kath

Wow what an interesting find. Shame you didnt know about these before her death. You would have enjoyed going through the photos with her and hearing the stories behind them.

My Ancestor was a photographer in AUL in 1890s onwards- His surname was Philburn. Exciting find- and I know there is an old pictures site on facebook for Ashton under Lyne.
