I am Margaret Elizabeth Jackson and I am looking for my Cheshire relatives from 1815. They are Charles Moody and there are about 8 of them, my Granddad being last on my side, only having a daughter. gjuk44@aol.com

I am trying to introduce myself but seem to be a bit "site" challenged!
My name is Edwin. Born in London UK, I now ilve in British Columbia, Canada. My Family on both parents sides came mostly from the Stockport, Hyde, Glossop, & New Mills areas. These are the areas I am focussed on. My main interest is in family history but I have some blanks to fill in on the genealogy side as well.
For family history I am researching Berry and Hampson in Hyde, Werneth, Gee Cross and Godley, and in Glossop and New Mills my main families are Wyatt and Walton.
I look forward to interesting contacts and exchanges of info. If I ever get the hang of navigating the site.
Edwin Berry

Brought up in Fairfield Square, Droylsden, moved to Yorkshire in 1960. Parents and g.parents from Openshaw, so can we extend Tameside westwards?

My great grandparents are Harrison's from Denton. Lived on Hyde Road around 1900. Children Sam, Alice, Lilly and Tom. Are these the same group of Harrison's that you are researching??

Hi Mo. Not really researching this branch of my family tree. Like you say, Harrison is a very common surname and i would find it too difficult. The parents names were ? Samuel Thomas Harrison and ? Alice Harrison (nee Bentley). No idea what there occupations were sorry. Hope this helps. Novice1

Hello jeniwren, The only electoral registers that I know are on-line are for Cheshire on the family search pilot website: www.familysearch.com - click on search - then record search pilot - then Europe and then scroll down the page. There are also lots of transpcriptions of other records on the Cornish pages of GENUKI. If you have any specific questions about your ancestors in Tameside - just ask and I'm sure someone will be willing to help.

I have a few people called Robinson and Bradbury who are all connected to my Shepley family tree which mainly originates in the Glossop/ Chapel en le Frith area of Derbyshire. Here are a few examples:
One of my Robinson lines originates in Prestbury, Cheshire with John Robinson (b 1801, Cheshire) who we think married Mary Bailey (b 1806, Cheshire) at Cheadle on 17 November 1822.
Their son, John Robinson (b 1828, Prestbury, Cheshire) married Annie Hollinshead (b 1833, Chapel-en-le-Frith) in 1854.
One of Annie's sisters, Margaret Hollinshead (b 1842, Chapel en le Frith) married George Shepley (b 1841, Chapel en le Frith) at Chapel en le Frith, 1871
A second Robinson line has Rachel Robinson (b 1821, Manchester) who married Thomas Whittingham (b 1819, Garstang, Lancashire) in Manchester, 1840. One of their daughters, Jane Robinson Whittingham (b 1858, Charlesworth, Derbyshire) married Joseph Shepley (b 1854, Glossop, Derbyshire) at Hayfield, 1877.
The third Robinson line starts with Elizabeth Robinson (b 1831, Grindlow, Derbyshire) who married John Andrew (b 1831, Sparrowpit, Derbyshire) at Stockport, 1855. Through successive marriages, this line eventually transforms into 'Pickup', which ultimately connects to the Shepley family through William Shepley (B 1881, Glossop).
In the Bradbury department, my line starts with Joseph Bradbury (b 1821, Hadfield, Derbyshire) who married Johanna Gibbins (b 1821, Whittle, Glossop).
One of their daughters, Elizabeth Bradbury (b 1843, Disley, Cheshire) married William Shepley (b 1830, Chunal, Glossop)
If you recognise any of these people or can be a bit more specific, I might be able to help.

Hi My name is Jillian Delsoldato and I am researching into my husband's family tree. We moved into the Millbrook area only two years ago and were amazed to discover that some of his ancestors were born and bred in Stalybridge!
I am looking forward to being able to share with the other members.
Thanks Jill
