Hello to all, I am a keen amateur historian, I have now retired so have a little more time on my hands, I am currently researching several WW1 casualties who lived in Stalybridge, which brought me to the missing lads not recorded on the Stalybridge memorial and what a wonderful piece of research it is, congratulations to all who took part in this project!!..this got me thinking that as the Stockport WW1 fallen have been researched and are now remembered in history as "people" rather than a name and number, is there something in the planning stage to do the same for the Stalybridge lads?, or is it already being done? Regards, Peter

The work has been done and is currently on a series of card indexes which need to be transferred into digital media. A start has been made on this, but help may be appreciated. I'll see where the project is upto.
My friend has also written a set of books currently available at Tameside Local Studies and Archives Centre.
Will get back to you.
PS the project was the work of Kathryn Booth who spent six years trawling through the pages of the Stalybridge Reporter and then via several websites as different sets of material became available.
