I forgot about the forum guard-dog, Thingy. In the text of my response, replace 'thingy' with (and read this backwards) 'rekcoC'

I picked up a free copy of the June edition of the Who Do You Think You Are Magazine at York Family History Fair on Saturday.
What a surprise to find that our own DELSOL from this forum, was this month's featured 'Reader Story' My Ancestors include criminals and wealthy millowners.
She mentions the help she received from our main webpage, tamesidefamilyhistory.co.uk, Tameside Archives and this forum,
Thanks for the mention Jill. Good Photo and good story and a great mention for Stalybridge:)

Hi Gay, Thanks for that - I'm glad you were pleased with the mention! I really enjoyed the experience although it was a bit embarrassing having to go and do a photoshoot!!! Cheesy or what?!
I was hoping they would focus more on the Stalybridge Mill owners but it was great what they did about Old Eliza!
It spurred me on and I have a 'Skeleton in your cupboard' full page entry in the next issue of 'Your Family Tree'. That's about someone who ended up being hung for his crimes in South Africa!!
Anyone with an interesting story to tell should haave a go - it's great fun!
So glad you liked it though! Jill

Hi again,
Whilst I'm on, I'm struggling with finding Daniel SAxon b 1775 Ashton who was married, I think, to MAry Andrew b 1780 in Lancashire.
I think we're talking about the Stalybridge/Mottram areas.
At the moment that's all I have. I have full records for Elisha Saxon, one of his sons and think there was at least one other son called Daniel.
In browsing, I found a book from a USA Uni - CAlifornia, called Bygone Stalybridge and Daniel Saxon is mentioned in it, along with joshua Platt, - his daughter married Elisha - but i need to access more local records to pin it all down.
Any help very welcome, thanks, Jill

Hello Jill,
This information was found using familysearch.org.
Daniel Saxon married Mary ANDREW at Ashton St Michael's Church, 12 December 1797
They had the following children:
Elijah born 28 June 1799 and baptised 4 August 1799 at Asthon St Michael
Betty born 6 November 1801 baptised 20 December 1801 at Asthon
Joseph born 23 October 1803 baptised 4 December 1803 at Ashton
John born 16 February 1806 baptised 20 January 1806 at Ashton
James born 2 May 1808 baptised 5 May 1808 at Ashton
Samuel born 14 July 1810 and baptised 12 August 1810 at Bethel Methodist New Connexion, Stalybridge
Daniel born 28 April 1813 and baptised at Bethel Methodist New Connexion Stalybridge - no date given.
Daniel senior is also mentioned in the Land Tax Returns at Stayley in 1811 and at Tintwistle in 1819/21/22. At this date Tintwistle township stretched as far as Carrbrook and Micklehurst.
The microfilms for all these records are held at Tameside Local Studies and Archives Centre.
very best, GAY

Hi its Jason. I know how much you LOVE coincidences so I wonder do you still.have that copy of the June WDYTYA Magazine featuring Jill's article on Elisha Saxon? If so would it be possible to borrow it? You see Jill's Elisha Saxon was Joshua Saxon's father. And Joshua Saxon married, guess who.... Yes MY JANE HASSALL!!
