Hi my names Michelle , dont know if anyone can help looking for any info on William Cooke ? he was my grandad i know he died in Millbrook or should i say he is buried their as far as i know, St James i think !and i know he is buried with my nan Norah and strange as it may seem also his second wife was buried in the grave too dont know her name ?he could of had more children ?i dont know, he married Norah at Dukinfield, St John in 1929 they had two children Gladys (my mum) and maurice(emigrated to Oz in 70,s) ,my nan Norah who was a wogan before she married William , i have traced her back to 1800,s but when it comes to William i know absolutely nothing and was wondering if anybody can help with any info , i would be so grateful ,thank you .

If you can get a copy of their marriage cert or check the church record at Ashton local studies, you'll then have the name of William's father, occupation and address. Hopefully William's age will also be on it and this will then help to go further back.

Hi i wasnt too sure what info was on it if you send off for one because what i seen online is just names no age and where they got married , but yes i could get a copy of that because i looked it up online specially if theirs more info on it than i thought , i,ve been trying to find his birth cert but not knowing his age or when/where he was born and their was so many William Cooke,s coming up ! anyway thank you for your reply

Are you able to visit Ashton local Studies? If not you could e-mail them and ask if they could look up the Parish Record for you. If you supply the names, year and St John's Dukinfield book 6 entry 198 they will be able to go straight to it. Good luck
