Hello,
I've been trying to find the maiden name of my ggg-grandmother, Jane Warren. Jane died at York Street on 10 Nov 1837 at age 43, so was born about 1794.
Jane (Jenny or Genny) was the wife of John Warren (1794 - 1879), a hatter and "proprietor of houses", who lived for many years on York Street, AuL. He was the son of Joshua Warren and Ann Bradbury.
I believe John and Jane were married around 1815, as their first child was born in 1816. Their children were James (1816), Susannah (1820), Selina (Elana or Ellen) (1824), Joshua (1826), Jane (Jenny) my gg-grandmother (1828), and John (1830). All were christened at St. Michael's.
I can't find their marriage on Family Search or Lancashire OPC. Can anybody help?
Thanks, Arkay

Hi Janet and Gerard,
Thanks for your help, but I don't think those are my Warren's. I'm pretty sure that they would have been married either in Manchester Cathedral or in St Michael's, Ashton-under-Lyne (they and the rest of their family and ancestors were all born and died in Ashton).
I was hoping that perhaps there were some Warren descendants still living in the area who might know about them.
Arkay (I live in Canada)
PS: Sorry to be so long in replying, but I didn't receive a notification about your posts. I must be doing something wrong!

Hi Caitlin,
I do have a William Warren (b.1836 d.1914) and his son Albert Warren (b.1864 d.1921) in my tree. Are they yours? If so, I would be happy to exchange info with you.
Cheers, Arkay

Hi Arkay and Caitlin,
So I've just been doing a little searching (just today), because I was going on William Warren, from Ashton-under-Lyne. Albert Warren (1864-1921) is the father of Fred Vincin Warren (b. 23 Apr 1894, Pearl Twp, Hand County, South Dakota, d. Nov 1964.) And he is the father of my grandfather Lloyd Warren ( b. 14 Jul 1922, Wessington, South Dakota, d. 11 May 1997, South Dakota.)
I really hope you see this and have some more information! I'd really like to dig into this.
Edit: I may have made a mistake, because I'm actually not finding "Albert Warren" but I do have "William Albert Warren," who came across from England in 1892. So I'm not even sure if we're talking about the same Warrens here, but if we're looking at Ashton-under-Lyne I think we're onto the same family.
